Director Quinn Shephard & co-star Nadia Alexander (Harper) got engaged while filming the movie. The two women started dating after meeting on prior film Blame (2017).
Director Quinn Shepard told IndieWire that they decided to add a disclaimer at the beginning of the film that warns it contains an "unlikable female protagonist" after several people at test screenings asked why they would make a movie with an unlikable woman as the main character. Shepard said it's something she's repeatedly heard in the industry, and a lot of her other writer friends have as well. Though she admitted she didn't understand why since films featuring unlikeable male protagonists are often hailed as modern masterpieces. Audiences understood that those films were "a statement and not an endorsement," so why can't the same apply to women?
Dylan and Zoey previously appeared on The Ouftit (2022).
