TRIVIA

Trivia

The actual Gus March-Phillips was killed in action eight months following the events in this movie.

Henry Cavill plays the historical figure who inspired Ian Fleming's James Bond. Cavill has long been a fan favorite to play Bond on screen.

Ian Fleming introduces himself, "Fleming. Ian Fleming." This is a nod to his fictional hero James Bond who, in many of the films in which he appears, introduces himself as "Bond. James Bond."

Easter egg: U-96 from "Das Boot" makes an early appearance.

In real life, one the lesser known members of the actual Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was a young Christopher Lee. The actor who would not only meet Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, personally, but would later play one of the most iconic Bond villains, Francisco Scaramanga. Also, Lee famously used his experience in these operations to lecture Peter Jackson, when filming the Lord of the Ring trilogy, on the "sound a man makes when is stabbed in the back".
