TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The film was skewered in Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Magic Sword (1992). In the "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Amazing Colossal Episode Guide" book, the show's creators admitted that "this is actually a pretty good movie."

In addition to her credited role as "The Hag," Maila Nurmi also played the sorceress who kidnaps Princess Helene.

Stuntman/actor Leroy Johnson's (Sir Ulrich of Germany) dialogue was dubbed by voice specialist Paul Frees.

Although Richard Kiel doesn't feature in the screen credits, the "Variety" review dated April 11, 1962 provides a cast list that includes "Pinhead No. 1" played by "Dick Kiel."

United Artists in the UK decided to revert to the original title, "St. George and the 7 Curses." As such it had its British premiere on 15 March 1964 at the Gaumont cinema in Redditch, Worcestershire. The reason for choosing that particular town, according to Rank's research department, was that Redditch filmgoers were especially appreciative of escapist entertainment. The premiere was fairly modest, although members of the Redditch Mystical Society were invited along to mark the occasion. The first showing in Scotland was on 4 May 1964 at the Gaumont, Aberdeen.

Popular Dialogues

"Sir Branton: Was it magic? Lodac: No. Not magic. Sir Branton: Then how did George escape? Lodac: I think... yes. Something stronger than magic. The power of Patrick's faith."

"Lodac: [chuckling] You don't like Sir Branton? Oh, come now. A damsel in distress can't afford to pick and choose."
