This movie is loosely based on the "Long Island Cheating Scandal", the story of Samuel Eshaghoff and several other Long Island teens who were implicated in a cheating scandal in 2011. The teens paid thousands of dollars to make sure they scored highly on the SAT & ACT.
Both Paula Trickey and the actress that played her daughter, Laura Ashley Samuels, were born in Texas.
As of the 9/28/13 air date, the ages of the actors playing high school seniors were as follows: Laura Wiggins (Meredith) was 25, Daniela Bobadilla (Heather) was 20, Laura Ashley Samuels (Kylie) was 23, and Max Carver (Jordan) was 25. Wiggins and Carver were born 7 days apart in 1988 on different sides of the country.
Female in jeopardy: With about 52 minutes remaining, Meredith is in a fight with Kylie and falls over a stair railing to her death.
