David J. Fielding played Zordon in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993); he plays a similar role in this movie.
The lead character's name (Jason Oliver) is a combination of Jason David Frank's real name and "Tommy Oliver", the character he played in various Power Rangers incarnations. He usually played the Green Ranger, usually the most powerful ranger but sort of an "extra ranger" (he wasn't part of the main team of rangers).
Jason Oliver wears a green shirt through most of the movie; this is making fun of how the Power Rangers wore clothing primarily of the color of whatever ranger they were.
