The Great Kills Swim Club that they're at in the movie is a real swim club on Staten Island.
The main character in this movie closely resembles the writer of this movie, Colin Jost, not only looks similar to the actor who plays Danny but also grew up in Staten Island, NY, went to Harvard, and is Irish.
Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man appears as Konko the Ice Cream man. Method Man and his fellow Wu members hail from New York, some from Staten Island specifically. The Wu members reference Staten Island in several songs and have nicknamed the borough as Shaolin. Method Man also supplies the hook on the song "Ice Cream" off of the album "Only Built for Cuban Lynx" by fellow Wu member Raekwon.
