IMDbOn the Line' is a lackluster and predictable film that fails to impress due to its lack of realism. While Mel Gibson delivers a solid performance as the host of a popular radio show, his efforts alone aren't enough to save the movie. The film suffers from an unconvincing plot that feels like a cheap imitation of other movies like 'Phone Booth' and 'The Game.' The climax is underwhelming, and viewers may find themselves scratching their heads after watching the final ten minutes. The story starts with promise as a caller informs Elvis (Mel Gibson) that he's kidnapped his wife and daughter and plans to kill them, but the subsequent cat-and-mouse game goes on for too long, making the audience lose interest. Despite some decent performances, the absurd finale ruins the entire viewing experience, making the twists and turns pointless. In the end, 'On the Line' is forgettable and not worth the time.
Kevin Connelly was supposed to play Jason, but due to his first child arriving soon he recommended Kevin Dillon who got the role
Mel Gibson and Kevin Dillon also appear in Hot Seat (2022).
"Elvis Cooney: What kind of a B grade movie is this?"
