Three of the actors in the movie have played a character named Rico in the past, and their characters in this movie are tied together: Casper Van Dien - Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers. Moises Arias - Rico Suave in Hannah Montana. John Gries - Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite.

The baby with the gun shirt that Jason Mewes in the movie is from the web series the Guild which is also about a gaming clan.
