Sanjay Kapoor was signed to play a villain opposite Bipasha Basu in the film. His role was scrapped before the shooting started.
Lara Dutta replaced Tabu at the last hour.Tabu was not informed about this. She only found out much later that Boney Kapoor had replaced her.
After shooting for a few days,Anees Bazmee realized that Fardeen Khan's comic timing was slightly off and not matching the rest of the cast. He saw that his reactions were delayed and not in sync with everybody else. Not wanting to replace him, decided to change the character. The character was now slow and reacted a little late to everything said to him. His responses were also with a slight delay.
Boney Kapoor originally offered the role of Sunny to Saif Ali Khan while he was still working on Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). Saif preferred the role of Kishen but eventually declined.
