TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

'My Friend Dahmer' was filmed in Jeffery Dahmer's actual childhood home in Bath, Ohio. His high school, Revere High, was going to be used as well, but the school rejected the offer.

The real Derf Backderf said it was jarring to talk to Ross Lynch while he was in character and costume, because his resemblance to Dahmer was so strong.

In an interview with Independent magazine, Derf Backderf reflected how some of Dahmer's subtler dark traits showed up as a teen. According to the article, "Put into context his behavior at school became very chilling, because he was perfecting the tools that he would use to become such a lethal killer. The ability to vanish. The ability to not give anything away and to charm people. The ability to hide everything that was going on in his head. All those things he perfected when he was very young through our goofball antics, he used them when he was a monster. That's a little hard to live with."

Before each day of filming started, Ross would watch Jeffrey Dahmer's interview to 'get into character'.

Alex Wolff, playing Derf Backderf, mentioned eerie events occurring in Dahmer's real house, such as lights turning off everywhere and there being a general sense of unease or nausea among the actors. It remains one of the creepiest experiences in his acting career.
