Most of the incidents depicted in this series have been inspired or taken from real life Indian television acting experiences of the cast.
The title of the series is inspired by the opening conversation between Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. When Jules informs Vincent about Mia Wallace having done a pilot of a tv show, he curtly replies "I don't watch tv!"
Rajeev Masand's torture sequence in the third episode pays homage to the Ludovico scene of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.
The Producers were very apprehensive of using a Bombay Velvet/No smoking joke in the final episode after Anurag Kashyap agreed for a significant cameo in the series. To their relief, Anurag was not only extremely sporting, he also improvised on the joke.
