Named after a 1998 Grandaddy song about an astronaut stranded on a distant planet. The lyrics describe the landscape as "a greyish white expanse" similar to that in the movie. In a further link to the themes of the film, the astronaut sees swans "wading on the shores of a pale white lake" and, although he realises they are probably a hallucination, sets off walking toward them.
"[First lines] Susan: [narrating] I cannot tell you the truth. I cannot tell you a lie. All I can do is recall memories."
"Rola: Do you want to be happy? Lernert: [sighs] I mean, of course. I want to be happy. Who doesn't want to be happy? Rola: Susan, do you wanna be happy? Susan: Happiness is not part of my programming."
