Unlike the English version (see full cast section), the Soviet dubbing has retained almost all of the character names. One notable exception is the rat Pissy (Candy in English dubbing, and Patty in Russian one), whose original name sounds vulgar both in English and Russian (and for the same reason).
Although the story takes place in a world completely devoid of humans, one human-like figure does appear in the movie. The Dracula in "The 4 gangsters" clip is a human vampire, as is evident by the shape of his nose and mouth. Also, Billy the rat (Bones in the English dub) wears a T-shirt with the picture of a human skull on it.
This movie was the 5th biggest Hungarian box-office hit in the 1980s.
Number 13 appears an inordinate number of times in the film. Grabowski is said to have proclaimed himself Mickey Mouse 13th. Grabowski's cabin number on the M-Lines ship is 13. The first button that the Rat Racer's computer tells the rats to push is also 13. The number appears in the sequel as well.
The movie was meant to receive a spin-off animated series titled Macskamesék ("Cat Tales"). Taking place on a different planet and focusing entirely on newly created cat characters instead of the "heroic mice vs. criminal cats" setup of the movie, it would nevertheless have taken inspiration from the movie's world, imagery, as well as its more adult humor. The series was planned to span 12 episodes, only two of which got completed, in 2006. According to the creators, although several television stations and foreign investors were interested in the project, they didn't receive sufficient funding from the Hungarian state for an entire series, and it was thus canceled.
