Refusing to submit, the Romans, led by the greedy and psychotic Emperor Nero, move to crush the Iceni and control their lands. TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Fight director Roberta Brown and technical advisor Chris Halstead trained Alex Kingston in sword-fighting and riding a chariot in the suburban neighborhood of Los Angeles. But during training, a policeman arrived. Alex Kingston explained about Boudica, and the policeman, who liked to research historical figures, was impressed asked when Boudica would be on television, and allowed them to continue training.

Screen debut of Emily Blunt (Isolda).

First-century reports tell that Boudica had two daughters, but fail to mention their names. Dramatic or fictionalized accounts often make up names for these daughters for narrative purposes. The fate of the daughters is not known: some legends have them both perishing along with Boudica, while others have one or both surviving and living on in obscurity.

Alex Kingston (Boudica) and Frances Barber (Agrippina the Younger) both went on to play important supporting characters on Doctor Who (2005).

Alex Kingston would later work with Frances Barber in the 6th series of "Doctor Who". Alex Kingston as River Song and Frances Barber as Madame Kovarian.

Popular Dialogues

"Boudica: All men die, Isolde. All women, too. Our lives are over in a moment. Like a bird that flies out of the darkness into a bright hall - full of light, and noise, and merriment - and then out again into the darkness of eternity. But in that moment, we can do great things. We can make ourselves remembered forever... [to everyone] Boudica: and by all the gods we will!"

"Boudica: My brave warriors! Today we face a mighty Roman army. They are strong, but we are stronger. Their weapons and their wealth will not protect them. They are no match for our fierce hearts; our courage; our passion; and they never will be. [beat] Boudica: You may die today - and I may die - but we will do so in good heart. And if you find yourself on the tip of a Roman sword, you look into his eyes and laugh! For he can never kill you. Shed one drop of blood on this land and you live in the place you love forever. Here with your ancestors reaching back into the past, and with your children stretching far out into the future. We are part of one another. Always. Eternally. We cannot lose. We shall have our... [she whips out her sword] Boudica: Victory!"
