TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

H.M.H.S. Britannic was originally ordered by the White Star Line as the third in her class. Her sisters included R.M.S. Titanic and the R.M.S. Olympic.

The Britannic was the largest ship lost during World War I.

Two Titanic survivors were aboard the Britannic when it sank. In the film, the fictional main character Vera Campbell is also a survivor of the Titanic, and has a nightmare of its sinking.

The film shows the ship sinking at night, with the ship finally slipping under the waves at daybreak. In reality, the ship sank in the early morning hours, shortly after breakfast.

The actual reason of how the Britannic actually sank still remains unknown but is likely to be a mine or a torpedo.

Popular Dialogues

"Sara Lewis: Surely you're not saying that God is in favor of war? Captain Barrett: What do you think, Chaplain? Does God pick sides? Sara Lewis: Of course He would be on our side, wouldn't He? Reynolds: With so many men dying on both sides, I wonder if He favors either of us. Captain Barrett: There's a terrible paradox. War is the perfect expression of free will. Which is, of course, God's gift to us. Reynolds: And like most of His gifts, it is unappreciated and often misused. Townsend: As I recall, the Bible is filled with stories of God giving His blessing to men who fight for a just cause. Doctor Baker: Come now, Townsend. You do not believe all this senseless killing warrants God's approval? Townsend: Are you saying He does not approve of courage and sacrifice? Sara Lewis: I assure you, I would be willing to do my bit. I realize that, as a female, my options are limited. I shall have to content myself with being the woman behind the man."

"Reynolds: I would have killed you an hour ago if I had to. Vera Campbell: That's the difference between us. I hate you for what you've done, but I can't let you die."
