Rotten TomatoesNetflix's South Korean drama, "Black Knight," presents a unique and engaging six-episode saga set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a comet crash. The Korean peninsula is now shrouded in toxic air, where fresh oxygen is a precious commodity delivered by privileged deliverymen to gated communities. Those without access, known as refugees, reside in the ruins of the former civilization. The story follows protagonist deliveryman 5-8, a legendary figure with exceptional skills and a Robin Hood-like persona. As he navigates the hazardous landscape and battles hunters, his path intersects with Yoon Sa-wol, a refugee teen aspiring to rise like him. The series effectively builds a captivating world with a plausible connection to our own reality, addressing themes of air pollution, social inequality, and the control of resources. While the show suffers from an abundance of plotlines that are not always satisfactorily resolved, "Black Knight" still offers an entertaining premise and transports viewers to a dusty, desolate South Korea. Despite its flaws, it's worth exploring this glimpse into the future.
