Motion capture technology was used in this film to film a fight sequence shot at Puducherry.
A set of a hotel worth INR 1 crore was erected in Chennai, where action scenes and songs were shot for the film.
The director, Venkat Prabhu disclosed that iconic composer A. R. Rahman, was also supposed to sing one of the songs along with four other singers, but that he could not be signed owing to a contract that prevented him from singing for other music directors.
Venkat Prabhu's brother Premgi Amaren, who had been part of all his brother's ventures, will be playing an "almost parallel role" as the lead character's best friend in 'Biriyani'.
The movie was shot in several locations including Chennai, Senji, Ambur and Pondicherry.
