Nandini Reddy's Anni Manchi Sakunamule had high expectations, following her previous film Oh! Baby. However, the film falls short of its potential, offering a pleasant viewing experience but lacking in depth. The story revolves around two families engaged in a long-standing feud in the hill station of Victoria Puram. Rishi and Aarya, born on the same fateful night, belong to these warring families. Despite the enmity, the young protagonists maintain a friendship, challenging the stereotypes associated with their families. Nandini Reddy skillfully breaks the mold, portraying the characters' growth and resilience in the face of generational trauma and toxicity. The film's strength lies in its portrayal of progressive households. Rishi is unapologetic about his interests, such as learning crochet, and his father's only concern is his lack of seriousness in life. Aarya, on the other hand, manages the family's finances and serves as the primary breadwinner. The absence of misogyny in their upbringing allows them to thrive and express themselves freely. While the film successfully challenges certain tropes, it falls short of exploring its potential fully. The narrative lacks depth and fails to capitalize on the intriguing premise. Nevertheless, Anni Manchi Sakunamule offers a heartwarming tale with notable performances, particularly from Santosh Sobhan and Malvika Nair, contributing to an overall enjoyable experience.
