Alice, Darling Review

Alice, Darling is an R-rated psychological thriller is the intense story of a young woman caught up in an abusive relationship with caring friends who host a sudden intervention to help her fix things. The central theme involving female leads helping other female friends makes the movie quite strong and refreshing. The idea that friends will help her realise what nonphysical abuse constitutes is a solid idea for a movie's plot. But the important message isn't met with quite the quality as it fails to take home the point of relationships and how to protect them. The movie tends to shift towards a teenage-drama-style plot, with no character development whatsoever. That said, Anna Kendrick shines in the lead role of the young woman and gives one of the best performances of her career. With an 89-minute runtime, the film concludes a bit hastily.
