Each crew member that worked on Christmas Day received a plaque that read, "I gave up my 2013 Christmas for the film 30-Love and all I got was this shitty plaque."
While filming the driving sequences near the end of the film, the crew reached speeds above 125 m.p.h. in the Mini Cooper S Countryman.
The film is broken into five acts, each of which is based on a color and a different stage of grief from the Kubler-Ross system of grieving. The color/stages are: blue = depression green = bargaining black = denial red = anger yellow = acceptance Additionally, the color orange represents hope throughout the film.
There are no slow motion shots or time lapse shots in the entire film. The filmmakers decided to rely upon advice from director John Frankenheimer that "American films use 24 frames per second. European films use different frame rates than that, but Americans don't." Having no slow motion is odd for a typical sports film.
Principle photography was completed in 16 days, straight. These dates included Christmas and New Year's Day.
