Xiaomi 14 Ultra India launch teased, tipster claims price to increase

Highlights
  • Xiaomi India teaser may have suggested the Xiaomi 14 Ultra India launch.
  • The company will be continuing its partnership with Leica for the upcoming phone.
  • Xiaomi 14 Ultra price could see a hike over the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will come as a successor to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and a premium model in the Xiaomi 14 lineup. The flagship is expected to debut at the MWC 2024 event in February. Now, while we wait for the announcement, Xiaomi India has indirectly teased the Xiaomi 14 Ultra India launch, in a social media post talking about its partnership with Leica.

Separately, tipster DigitalChatStation claims the Xiaomi 14 Ultra could see a price hike as the company will incorporate self-researched technologies ranging from communications, materials, batteries and more. All these inclusions will result in an increased bill of materials (BoM).

Xiaomi 14 Ultra India launch may have been teased

  • Xiaomi India confirmed its partnership with Leica will be extended to its future flagship as well.
  • The post on X said “Reimagine smartphone photography with a partnership that pushes boundaries. Stay tuned for something revolutionary.
  • Since the post is coming from the Xiaomi India handle, we are inclined to believe that Xiaomi 14 Ultra will also be launching in India at some point.
  • Xiaomi 14 Ultra has also bagged the BIS certification, which adds weight to the new teaser.
  • The flagship is rumoured to feature a Leica Summilux lens with an adjustable aperture ranging from f/1.63 to f/4.0.
  • The HyperOS internal code suggested a potential introduction of a second variant of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, with an under-display selfie camera.
  • The phone could also come with Satellite connectivity support and possibly a titanium frame.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra price hike

Xiaomi-14-Ultra
  • Xiaomi 14 Ultra is tipped to ship with Xiaomi’s self-researched technologies, probably to project it as the most premium ever flagship from the brand.
  • This will in turn increase the Bill of Materials (BOM). This could mean the price of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra could also be increased compared to the pricing of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which starts at RMB 5,999 (approx Rs 70,100).
  • DCS claims that Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a product that has been redone, which probably means the hardware is being worked from the ground up instead of adopting or building on the Xiaomi 14 series.

  • The series will also come with Leica optical full-focal length quad-camera system and there will be some new unique features on top of Leica optics. However, the details are under wraps at the moment.
  • The tipster says that these advancements will be implemented for the first time on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
  • Owing to all these improvements and upgrades, the BOM cost will increase by more than RMB 700 (around Rs 8,200), implying that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra price could be increased.
  • DCS claims that Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s mass production has already commenced and the launch will happen earlier than expected.

The tipster also hints at a range of new “imaging flagships” in Xiaomi’s lineup. One phone among them is expected in February and three are tentatively scheduled for March. No other details about the phones are revealed at the moment. There are chances the Xiaomi India teaser could be related to the new ‘imaging flagship’ and not the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
