The National Cinema Day has made its comeback, where movie buffs can enjoy watching any movie on theatres for just Rs 99. Through this event, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) intends to mark the achievements of several successful movies in 2023 and inspire more individuals to visit theatres. National Cinema Day 2023: everything you need to know
- The event is scheduled for today (October 13th), where movie lovers can buy tickets from select movie theatres across the country for Rs 99 per person.
- While some international films are not offering Friday bookings, popular Indian movies like Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, Bhumi Pednekar-led Thank You for Coming, and Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj, among others, are still accessible at reduced rates.
- The event will be held in more than 4,000 participating cinema halls, including well-known chains such as PVR INOX, MOVIE TIME, CINEPOLIS, WAVE, MIRAJ, CITYPRIDE, ASIAN, M2K, MUKTA A2, DELITE, and others.
- It is worth mentioning that the offer does not apply to recliners and premium formats (IMAX or 4DX).
- Also, the prices may differ due to multiplex taxes and fees. But if you buy your tickets in person at the cinema’s counter, you won’t have to pay a convenience fee.
- According to a tweet by PVR Cinemas, the food and beverages will also start at Rs 99 as part of the National Cinema Day.

It should be noted that the tickets can also be booked offline. But, if you are booking the tickets online on National Cinema Day 2023, you need to follow these simple steps:- Go to your preferred cinema network (e.g., PVR INOX/ Paytm, BookMyShow etc).
- Choose your city.
- Movie tickets will be available at Rs 99 all across India.
- Select the desired date and showtime.
- Complete the payment to secure your tickets.

The MAI initiated the National Cinema Day in 2022. As per the association, during the event held in September last year, there were 6.5 million admissions, which is said to be the highest ever for a single day. Trade experts estimated that the total box office earnings for the day from movies in different languages with tickets priced at Rs 75 reached around Rs 48 crore.
