Top tech news this week: iQOO 12 India launch, OnePlus 12 and Redmi Note 13 series India launch date and more

This week in tech there was a lot brewing in the smartphone zone as always. In India, the Realme C67 5G phone launched, and the iQOO 12 debuted here as well. Instagram started testing a new feature that lets you hide posts and reels that you’ve liked on the app. We also got the launch dates for three upcoming phones. One is the India launch of the Redmi Note 13 series, the global debut of the OnePlus 12 and the other is for the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series

iQOO 12 5G launched in India

iQOO 12 5G launched in India as the first phone to arrive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The smartphone comes with an LTPO AMOLED display, up to 512GB storage, Android 14 OS, 120W fast charging support, and a large 5,000mAh battery capacity. iQOO 12 price in India starts at Rs Rs 52,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model, and Rs 57,999 for the 16GB + 512GB model.

OnePlus 12, 12R and Redmi Note 13 series India launch date

Xiaomi finally announced the launch date for the Redmi Note 13 series in India, so has OnePlus for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R. The Redmi phones will launch in India on January 4th, 2024, while OnePlus would take the stage on January 23rd. It has so far confirmed the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ will launch in India but we’re expecting the Redmi Note 13 and Redmi Note 13 Pro to launch as well. The Redmi Note 13 series debuted in China in September.

Realme C67 5G launched in India

Realme C67 launched as the first 5G smartphone in the brand’s budget C-series. It starts at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB + 128GB model, and Rs 14,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model. Realme C67 5G features a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, and it’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

Instagram is testing a new feature that will let you hide posts and reels that you’ve liked on the app. It will give other options including one that lets only people that you follow, close friends, or no one at all to view your likes. You will still get to see previews and new likes that you’ve made on posts and reels. The account whose posts and reels you liked will also get to see them.

ASUS ROG Phone 8 series launch date

ASUS is gearing up to launch its next-gen ROG Phone series. The ROG Phone 8 series is launching on January 16th in China. This time we’re expecting two phones in the series, and these could be the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. ASUS also showed a glimpse of the design, and it looks like the camera module is going to change this time.
