June is typically not known for major game releases, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen some fantastic titles debut this month over the years. Notable examples include Diablo IV in 2023, The Last of Us Part II in 2020, and Valorant in 2020 as well. So, what exciting games were launched in June 2024? Let’s take a look at some of the major releases that happened this month.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC

The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 was that the players were quite excited about. Not only does it act as the conclusion of the ‘Light and Darkness’ saga, but it also sees the return of the fan-favourite character, Clyde-6, after he dies in the Forsaken expansion. The expansion adds new missions, gear and weapons. It also introduces a 12-player PvE activity, which is a first for the series.

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Night Springs is a DLC for the very well-received Alan Wake 2 (review). It builds upon the excellent game by adding three new self-contained stories in the format of the “Night Springs” television show. The DLC will also feature Rose Marigold, Shawn Ashmore, and Jesse Faden as playable characters. It’s an excellent way for fans to get back into the game.

Still Wakes the Deep

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Still Wakes the Deep is a first-player psychological horror video game that is set on an oil rig. But there is an event after which players will have to survive not just monsters, but also the weather. The game is very reminiscent of classic horror games like Amnesia and Alien: Isolation wherein there is no combat system in place. So players will have to rely on stealth and their wits to continue the game.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC

Shadow of the Erdtree gives players a brand new world to explore. Players will be able to step out of the Lands Between and visit the Land of Shadow. There, they will have access to a new story, new weapons, equipment and magic. Remember, players may die a lot, but by the end, you’ll “git gud”!

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Platforms: Nintendo Switch

While Mario might be the more famous of the two brothers, Luigi has some great games of his own. The most popular of the lot is the Luigi’s Mansion series which sees the taller brother take on spooky ghosts armed with his vacuum cleaner. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a remaster of the game that was launched on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2013. So it’s a great way for fans to experience this awesome little title.
