As we get closer to the July Unpacked event, we learn more about the next Samsung foldables through leaks. Last month, a report suggested there would be a slim variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Now, a new rumour surfaced online revealing more details.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim launch tipped
The news of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim’s China launch comes from the well-known tipster Ice Universe. According to the tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim may, in fact, be the Galaxy W25, headed for China (as well as potentially Korea) and scheduled to ship in October.
For those unaware, Samsung typically launches renamed Z-series foldables in China. For instance, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 from the previous year launched in China as the Galaxy W24.
The leaker claims that the Galaxy W25 will be slimmer and lighter than the standard Z Fold 6. This might be a result of Samsung allegedly discontinuing support for the S Pen on the Galaxy W25, which might include taking out the digitiser layer beneath the screen.
The tweet also addresses that the Galaxy W25 will be larger than the standard Fold 6, potentially indicating a different form factor or aspect ratio for the outer display. Some buyers may see the absence of support for the S Pen as a drawback, even though the slimmer appearance might portray it as a premium device.
Although there’s a chance Samsung may eventually release this compact Z Fold 6 model internationally, it’s more likely that it will be exclusive to China.
