Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra specs leak: how it compares to Galaxy Watch 7, Apple Watch Ultra 2

Highlights
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra could ship with Grade 4 Titanium chassis.
  • Both Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra could ship with a 3nm processor.
  • Samsung could take on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with comparable specs on the Galaxy Watch Ultra like 3,000 nits peak brightness and 100m water resistance.

The upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series is expected to introduce a new Ultra model which could be Samsung’s trump card against the Apple Watch Ultra 2. A new report leaks key specs of the standard Galaxy Watch 7 and the Ultra model. Here’s what that tells us:

Contextualising leaked Galaxy Watch 7, Ultra specs

Per the AndroidHeadlines report, the Galaxy Watch Ultra could be bigger among the two at 47mm while the Watch 7 could come in 40mm and 44mm sizes.

The bigger model could also bag a bigger 590mAh battery while the Watch 7 could ship in 300mAh (40mm) and 425mAh (44mm). So, the Watch Ultra has the same battery size as the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro while the Watch 7 models have the same battery sizes as the Watch 6 models.

Both the new Galaxy Watch 7 and the Ultra could benefit from a more power-efficient 3nm Exynos processor. The new chip could also be more powerful thanks to a 5-core CPU and 32GB storage.

The Watch Ultra could have a Titanium (Grade 4) chassis and sapphire crystal glass display. Even though the Watch 7 could have the latter, its body could be made of Armor Aluminum 2.

While both watches could feature MIL-STD-810H certification for durability, the Watch Ultra could offer better 10ATM+ IP68 dust and water resistance. The Watch 7 could offer only 5ATM+ IP68 ingress protection.

The Ultra variant could come in Titanium Grey, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Beige colours. Whereas the regular Watch 7 could hit the stores in Green and Cream colours only.

Coming back to the Watch 7’s display, it will retain the 2,000 nits peak brightness as its predecessor while the Watch 7 Ultra could touch 3,000 nits.

The other difference between the two variants could be that the Watch 7 comes in only a cellular model while the Ultra could come in cellular and Bluetooth-only models. Both watches will sport L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS though.

The Ultra could have a Quick Button for performing quick actions besides the Home and Back Button. The Galaxy Watch 7 will only have the latter two.

Finally, compared to an Apple Watch Ultra 2, the Galaxy Watch Ultra appears to have a bigger battery, comparable brightness, and similar 100m water resistance.

However, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is said to offer aerospace-grade Titanium chassis (often cited as Grade 5), which is better than the rumoured Grade 4 Titanium on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It also has more storage than what the Galaxy Watch Ultra leak suggests. However, since we don’t have the complete picture, we urge you to wait till the new Galaxy watches go official.
