Samsung Galaxy M55s in the works, receives Wi-Fi Alliance certification

Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy M55s could be in the works as a sub-variant of the Galaxy M55.
  • The Wi-Fi Alliance certification shows the phone will come with dual-band Wi-Fi support and boot Android OS.
  • The Samsung Galaxy M55s is expected to launch soon.

A new Samsung phone with the model number SM-M558B has appeared on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification. While the listing doesn’t reveal the marketing name, it could be a sub-variant of the Galaxy M55, which launched in April and featured the model number SM-M556B. It has been a while since Samsung introduced a new S-variant of the phone in the country. Looks like the company is getting back into upping its mid-range game.

Samsung Galaxy M55s launch soon

  • As said, the Samsung Galaxy M55s bears the model number SM-M558B (via).
  • This shows the phone would come with 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi band support, like most modern phones.

  • The handset will boot Android OS but the version number is not mentioned anywhere at the moment.
  • When launched, the Galaxy M55s will be the first S-series in a while since there were no S models to the Galaxy M52, Galaxy M53, and Galaxy M54.
  • This can be seen as a move to expand the company’s mid-range product portfolio by Samsung.

While we wait for the Galaxy M55s, here’s a quick recall of the Galaxy M55. The handset flaunts a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED Plus display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits peak brightness. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset paired with Adreno GPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The phone could be equipped with dual speakers, NFC, an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone will have a triple camera setup on the back, with a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. There is also a 50MP front camera for selfies.

The Galaxy M55 packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. It runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1 custom skin on top.
