Samsung Galaxy AI features will be free until 2025, company confirms

To enhance user experience and allow them to do a lot more with their phones with the help of AI-based tools, tech giant Samsung had announced the Galaxy AI with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Galaxy AI can help users translate audio or text in real-time, search things on the internet by simply circling objects, summarise webpages, and much more. Notably, these features are free for now, but that won’t be the case always. Here’s what Samsung said about it

Samsung Galaxy AI to be free until 2025

• The South Korean tech giant has announced that it is showcasing Galaxy AI capabilities by opening seven Galaxy Experience Spaces globally.
• As per Samsung, Galaxy AI features will be free until the end of 2025 on supported Galaxy devices, and once again, reminded that charges for using Galaxy AI might begin in 2026.

Though not confirmed, there are chances that the tech giant could bring a paid version of the Galaxy AI and call it “Galaxy AI+” starting in 2026. However, the basic or existing Galaxy AI features might be offered for free, like other companies.

Notably, several generative AI-based virtual assistants, such as Open AI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Google’s Gemini, were initially announced for free. However, their paid versions later arrived with additional capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy AI features

Here are some of the features of the Samsung Galaxy AI:

• Circle to Search: It is co-created with tech giant Google and allows users to perform searches by pressing the home button long. Users can circle, highlight, and tap anything on the screen in order to see search results.
• Chat Assist: The Galaxy AI’s Chat Assist feature helps users make conversations by suggesting appropriate replies and phrases. It also provides real-time message translation in 13 languages.
• Interpreter: This feature functions as a translation tool for conversations with people who speak different languages. It translates live conversations with a split-screen view, allowing both parties to read the translated text and can also operate without internet connectivity.
• Photo Assist: The Photo Assist feature helps users enhance their photography with the help of the Generative Edit tool. This feature lets users enlarge photos or edit them to make them look better.
