Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: design

The design of phones is always a subjective argument and there’s never a clear winner every time. The same applies to Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi as well. However, the Xiaomi phone looks more appealing with its dual-tone design on the back. There’s a circular camera module, slightly placed towards the left corner.

On the other hand, the Realme GT 6 has a large horizontal strap, where the triple camera cutouts and an LED flash module are placed without borders. The back panel of the phone is made of glass but is prone to smudges. This design might look bland to many over the fancy leather finishes.

The Xiaomi 14 Civi is relatively lighter at just 178 grams compared to 199 grams of the Realme GT 6. This makes the former more comfortable on the hands. Both phones feature curved displays, but the curvature on the Realme phone is slightly more prominent. The Realme GT 6 has an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance.

Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: display

The Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi feature a 1.5K AMOLED display. Both have the same 120Hz refresh rate, meaning the scrolling through UI and the animations are butter smooth without any lag.

Realme takes the lead with its whopping 6000nits peak brightness compared to just 3000nits on the Xiaomi 14 Civi. This results in the screen getting quite bright when viewing HDR content. The Realme GT 6 also comes with an LTPO panel, which dynamically adjusts the refresh rate and preserves the battery life of the phone.

If we have to pick a winner in the display segment, the Realme GT 6 shows clear dominance thanks to its peak brightness levels, energy-saving LTPO panel, and ultra-narrow bezels.

Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: performance

Both phones are powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with Adreno GPU for graphics. The phones could handle everything you throw at them, including top-end games and multitasking. The performance of both phones is equally good but the Realme GT 6 makes the most of the chipset by including a bunch of AI features like AI Smart Removal and AI Night Vision Mode. The Xiaomi 14 Civi offers AI camera features and has promised to roll out features like AI Magic Erase in the future.

The Realme GT 6 scored 1,852 and 4,761 in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively, while the Xiaomi 14 Civi has secured slightly higher points – 1913 in the single-core round and 5087 in the multi-core round. In AnTuTu, the Realme phone scored 15,01,830 compared to 14,430,11 of the Xiaomi 14 Civi.

Our reviews of the Xiaomi 14 Civi and Realme GT 6 note that they suffer from throttling issues and can only be operated at 40 percent of their performance under stress. While this doesn’t hamper the overall performance, the throttling can sometimes cause the battery to drain rapidly. Overall, for performance, you can buy either phone and you won’t be disappointed.

Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: cameras

Ticking the box of flagship cameras, both the Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi offer a versatile setup of cameras. The Xiaomi phone continues its partnership with Leica Optics this doesn’t mean to say the Realme GT 6 cameras are not so great. The primary camera sensor is quite impressive on both models and the results are almost identical with good colours and details. The AI Night Vision feature on the Realme GT 6 improves the low-light shorts.

The secondary ultra-wide-angle camera does what is needed. It is the third camera that makes all the difference. Both phones come with 50MP telephoto lens but the results on the Xiaomi 14 Civi are far superior. While the 2x shots on the Realme phone are good, they are no match to the Xiaomi model.

The 2x zoom shots on the Xiaomi 14 Civi look quite eye-pleasing with impressive background blue. The phone also gets Leica-tuned filters to enhance the results. Various other modes allow you to experiment.

For selfies, the Realme GT 6 has a single 32MP shooter while the Xiaomi 14 Civi has dual 32MP sensors and you can click great portrait shots even from the front cameras. Considering the versatility of both front and rear cameras, the Xiaomi 14 Civi looks to be a better option.

Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi: battery, software

The Realme GT 6 takes the lead with its large 5,500mAh battery and faster 120W charging speed compared to a modest 4,700mAh cell and 67W charging speed. The former managed to achieve an impressive 15 hours on the PCMark battery test, while Xiaomi could only manage 12 hours and 15 minutes.

The 120W charger of the Realme GT 6 took less than 30 minutes to charge from 20 to 100 percent. The Xiaomi 14 Civi took roughly 40 minutes to charge the 4,600mAh battery from 20 to 100 percent.

Both Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi run on Android 14 OS out of the box, with their own custom skins out of the box. Both brands offer 3 years of Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates. In software, Realme has a solid advantage thanks to AI features. We get options like AI Night Vision, AI Smart Removal, and AI Smart Tool. These enhance the user experience.

Conclusion

Both Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi are solid flagship offerings but it is the former that has a slight edge thanks to the impressive display with a whopping 6,000nits peak brightness for HDR content, a larger capacity battery life, and better fast charging speeds, and the bundled AI features enhance the user experience. The performance of both phones is equally good, albeit with some throttling issues.

Xiaomi 14 Civi doesn’t go down easy as the cameras are a tad better, thanks to Leica enhancements. This brand association is not just for name sake and actually delivers better results. The design of the Xiaomi phone also is quite good thanks to the vegan leather options. While the Realme GT 6 might look bland to some thought it features a glass back and uses Nano Mirror Design.

So, if cameras are your main requirement, the Xiaomi 14 Civi should be your pick but for the rest, the Realme GT 6 looks to be a better buy.
