Google is expected to introduce the second generation of the Pixel Fold, which is speculated to be the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. While there is no official confirmation regarding the name or any of its features, a new report suggests that the upcoming foldable is expected to come with an improved split-screen mode. Here are the expected details of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
According to a report by Android Authority, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold might include an improved split-screen mode to enhance multitasking.
The report notes that alternations made in the Android 14 QPR2 code will let the users put apps left and right when the foldable is in portrait mode.
This upgrade will notably improve upon the Pixel Fold, whose split-screen mode currently only supports top-bottom configuration in portrait mode.
Although the patches do not explicitly state this feature is for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, rumours strongly suggest we can see this upgrade to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Furthermore, the report also suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature a new inner display resolution of 2,076x2,152.
No other details about the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold have been revealed via the report.
Though not confirmed, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold might come with an 8.02-inch folding screen and a 6.29-inch cover display, contrasting with the Pixel Fold's 7.6-inch folding display and 5.8-inch outer display.
It is expected that the upcoming Google foldable will launch with a new Tensor G4 chipset instead of the Tensor G3. Meanwhile, the Pixel Fold includes the Tensor G2 chipset.
As per reports, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will integrate a cellular modem with satellite connectivity. This modem is anticipated to be part of the upcoming Tensor G4 chipset supplied by Samsung.
It is currently not known if the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will arrive in India or not because the Pixel Fold did not launch in India.
As per reports, the relatively low sales numbers of foldable phones are likely why Google did not unveil the Pixel Fold in India.
