Several smartphone brands, including Apple, Google, and Samsung, have started incorporating generative AI features into their phones. Meanwhile, OnePlus also announced the AI Eraser object removal feature in April. Now, a new report says that the Chinese smartphone company is allegedly working on a new feature that will allow OnePlus users to generate text summaries from voice recordings.
OnePlus AI recording summary feature details
A report by Android Authority notes that the smartphone brand is developing a new AI-powered voice recording summary tool that will likely come to users outside China, especially India and the US. Here are the details of the upcoming feature.
- The brand has rolled out Android 15 Developer Preview 2 for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open.
- During an APK teardown of Oxygen OS 14.1 and Developer Preview 2, code strings were found referring to a new feature.
- This feature appears to complement OnePlus’s AI Summarizer tool, which was launched earlier this year.
- The report states that, according to the code, this new AI capability is a sound recorder.
- The AI Summarizer will be able to generate summaries based on recordings made with this feature.
According to the report, the Summarizer might only support audio in the MP3, AMR, AWB, AAC, and WAV formats. Additionally, it mentioned that the sound recordings also can’t be more extensive than 500MB. If it is too long, only a partial summary will be provided. Meanwhile, if the recording is too short, the summary won’t be created.
Other OnePlus AI features
The smartphone brand’s AI Eraser feature allows users to select and remove unwanted objects from images. Notably, the AI analyses a chosen section and automatically creates a new background when the user marks objects such as trash, pedestrians, or other flaws in the image.
The AI Eraser feature is available on several OnePlus smartphones, including the OnePlus Open, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and OnePlus 11, among others. The company has also mentioned that the feature will likely arrive on more OnePlus phones as well.
