      Motorola has launched its latest foldables, the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra, in China. These will succeed the Razr 40 lineup from last year The cover screen on the Ultra model is bumped to 4-inch from a 3.6-inch panel. We also get a telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom and wireless charging support. Check out the complete specifications and price details.

      • The Motorola Razr 50 is priced at RMB 3,699 (approx Rs 42,500) for 8GB/256 GB and RMB 3,999 (around Rs 46,000) for the 12GB/512GB variant.
      • The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is priced at RMB 5,699 (approx Rs 65,500) for the 12GB + 256GB model and RMB 6199 (around Rs 72,200) for the 12GB + 512GB model
      • The phones are already on sale in China. The global availability will be revealed shortly. The Razr 50 series will be expanded to India as well.

      Motorola Razr 50 Ultra specifications, features

      The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra sports a 6.9-inch foldable FHD+ pOLED display with 1080 X 2640 pixels resolution, 1Hz-165Hz refresh rate, 3000nits peak brightness, a 120 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and 360Hz touch sampling rate. There is a 4-inch pOLED cover screen with a 1272×1080 pixels resolution. 

      The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen chipset with Adreno GPU for graphics, up to 12GB LPDDR5x RAM, and 512GB UFS 4 storage. The phone runs on Android 14-based Moto MyUX custom skin out of the box. The foldable packs a 4000mAh battery with 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

      Moving to optics, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra features a 50MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 50MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom support. We get a 32MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats. The device has an IPX8 water-resistant rating. This makes it the first Razr device to have water protection.

      The Motorola Razr 50 too has the same 6.9-inch foldable FHD+ pOLED display with 1080 X 2640 pixels resolution, Dolby Vision, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 300nits peak brightness. However, we get a smaller 3.6-inch cover screen with a 90Hz refresh rate.

      The chipset is also different. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage models.  The phone runs on Android 14-based Moto MyUX custom skin out of the box. 

      We get a 4,200mAh battery with 30W fast charging and 15W wired charging. The Motorola Razr 50 features a 50MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. We get a 32MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats. 

      The foldable is equipped with stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IPX8 water-resistance rating.

      What’s new on the Razr 50 series?

      Motorola Razr 50 series brings some notable upgrades. 

      Razr 50 Ultra: Firstly, the cover screen is bumped up from a 3.6-inch to a larger 4-inch panel. The refresh rate is also improved to 1Hz-165Hz. The chipset is now Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, up from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The RAM options are also upgraded from 8GB to 12GB and we now get a 512GB storage option as well. 

      The rear camera setup is also upgraded from 12MP + 13MP to 50MP + 50MP setup and the latter is a telephoto unit. The battery capacity is now 4,000mAh compared to the 3,800mAh cell on the Razr 40 Ultra. The 33W fast charging on the predecessor gets a jump to 45W and we also get 15W wireless charging support.

      Razr 50: Firstly, the 1.4-inch cover screen on the Razr 40 is stretched to a 3.6-inch panel and we now get Corning Gorilla Glass Victus support. The Razr 50 gets the new Dimensity 7300X chipset, compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 on the predecessor. The 64MP + 13MP camera setup is slightly tweaked to a 50MP + 13MP combination.  The front camera sensor remains unchanged. The battery and fast charging remain unchanged at 4,200mAh and 30W.
