Seeing the newly launched OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G makes you feel that all other smartphones claiming the “rugged” tag should just step aside. It’s hence no surprise that it has received the MIL-STD-810H Method 516.8 certification for its environmental engineering considerations.
Firstly, we tested the strength of the handset by putting it through a bend test. Some serious pressure was applied using both hands but the OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G refused to budge. Having this kind of strength despite its slim 7.89mm profile speaks volumes about the robustness that the 360° Armour Body gives it. The phone even showed tremendous impact resistance upon being dropped down a staircase. It took the 15-step drop like an absolute champ, showing no visible scratches on the screen or the body. Moreover, OPPO’s use of cushioning materials on the inside ensured that the internals were completely unharmed despite the hard fall.

In its evaluation, the OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G successfully passed 150 stringent reliability tests, enduring drops, impacts, and pressure applications. To ensure even greater durability, the device also underwent additional rigorous assessments, including 20,000 plug/unplug cycles and 42,000 micro-drop tests.
Supreme water resistance
OPPO has timed the launch of the F27 Pro+ 5G perfectly. It has arrived just as the monsoon rains have started showing up, making its waterproof nature all the more relevant. It comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications that grant it extraordinary protection against dust and water ingress. The IP68 rating makes the device dust-tight and helps it withstand immersions under 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. The IP66 and the first-in-India IP69 ratings enable the phone to stay water-tight even when high-pressure water jets are directed at it. No doubt then, using the OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G when it’s raining or when someone sprays you with a water gun will be of no bother at all. When we wanted to test the waterproofing strength of the phone, we decided that instead of dunking it in a bucket or a sink, we’d make things a bit more interesting by leaving it in muddy water for a while. Sure enough, we found a small puddle and placed the OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G in it for a good 10 minutes before pulling it out and giving it a good wash. That the phone was working flawlessly wasn’t as big a surprise as the fact that there were absolutely no traces of mud on it thanks to its incredibly seal-tight build. This also means that the once-in-a-while ritual of wiping your phone clean can be easily replaced by giving it a simple wash under the faucet.

The overall design of the F27 Pro+ 5G is praiseworthy. Not only does it offer a 120Hz refresh rate for super-smooth visual flow but it also supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming, which protects your eyes if the display is too bright or too dark. The phone even gets hardware-level blue light reduction for negating retinal damage, apart from the Nature Tone technology that effectively reduces visual fatigue caused by screen light. Melatonin Protection is also present on this display for improving sleep quality, and so is AI Smart Backlight, which reduces the disturbance that’s caused by the inconsistency between the screen and ambient lighting. For all the busy people out there, this kind of charging time is a massive boon, for in crunch situations, merely 5-minute or 10-minute bursts of charge will be enough to step out of the house sans any worries of the battery running out in the middle of the day.
Fluency Protection along with top-notch performance
The OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G has the beastly MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset doing its bidding. Its 6nm brilliance enables it to deliver blazing-fast speeds while keeping optimal battery efficiency. The 2.6GHz octa-core CPU onboard this chip is ideal for handling all kinds of heavy workloads, whether they include 4K video editing or playing high-end games. And those who worry about the performance taking a dip as the years pass by should not fret at all.
