Made by Google event date announced, Pixel 9 Pro teased: what’s expected

Google has announced the date of the fall Pixel hardware event also called the Made by Google event. It will be held in August and the company has hosted a dedicated microsite on Google Store. From this store page, we get confirmation of the Pixel 9 Pro phone moniker and a hint of its design. Take a look:

How to watch the Pixel 9 Pro launch at the Made by Google event

The Made by Google event will take place on August 13, 2024, at 10:00 am PT (10:30 PM IST). It will be a live event (likely held at Googleplex in Mountainview, California). You can live stream the Pixel hardware event on this Google Store page and Google’s YouTube channel.

This time the event is earlier than the previous year’s event. This could be to one-up the Apple’s September event. Google may be planning to capture mindshare with its new Pixels and Gemini AI features before Apple launches new iPhones, stable iOS 18 with Apple Intelligence.

So, we could get new Pixel hardware (like the Pixel 9 series), the stable version of Android 15 and new Gemini AI updates at this event.

The aforementioned Google Store page’s URL mentions the Pixel 9 Pro. Moreover, the page shows a 12-second video teasing the Pixel 9 Pro design. Here’s the clip:

We get a glimpse of the Pixel 9 Pro design including its signature camera visor.

Thanks to leaks and rumours we have a fair idea of what to expect from this phone.

Google Pixel 9 Pro design and specifications (expected)

Design: Since the camera island doesn’t extend edge to edge, it looks different from the Pixel 8 Pro’s visor but is very much the Pixel look. The sides are flat.

Cameras: The phone could have 3 sensors, one of which will be a telephoto shooter.
Display: The Pixel 9 Pro could sport a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen with an Adaptive Touch feature.
Processor: The new Pixels could feature Tensor G4 SoC with up to 16GB RAM support. The phone could be equipped with Android 15 and on-device AI capability.
