⁤Tech giant Apple has declared some of its devices, including the iPhone X, first-generation AirPods and HomePod, as ‘vintage’. These Apple devices were launched years ago as the company’s much-anticipated products, with several new enhancements. Here are more details about these newly declared Apple vintage products.

Apple vintage products

Notably, Apple’s vintage products are those that have not been sold for over five years but are less than seven years old. ⁤⁤The products become obsolete when not sold for more than seven years. However, they can still be repaired based on parts availability, but once a product becomes obsolete, it is no longer eligible for hardware service.

iPhone X

The iPhone X was launched in 2017 at a starting price of Rs 89,000 in India. It was unveiled with several new features, including the introduction of Face ID, an edge-to-edge display with a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display, and a TrueDepth camera system in the front notch that enabled Animojis.

The ‌iPhone‌ X is equipped with the A11 Bionic chip for improved performance, with the tech giant’s first Neural Engine for better machine learning functions. It also supports wireless charging for the first time. Its design featured a stainless steel frame and glass back.

First-generation AirPods

The first-generation AirPods were announced in India in 2016 for Rs 15,400. It is equipped with a custom-designed W1 chip, which enables pairing with Apple devices and efficient wireless connectivity. The AirPods also feature optical sensors and motion accelerometers, allowing them to detect when they are in the user’s ears, automatically pausing playback when removed.

First-generation HomePod

The HomePod‌ made its debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2017, but it was announced in India for Rs 19,900. It is said to offer high-quality audio and integrate with Apple’s ecosystem, including Apple Music and AirPlay. It has a custom-built woofer and an array of seven beamforming tweeters. The HomePod is equipped with the Apple A8 chip, which enables audio beamforming and multi-channel echo cancellation.

It is worth noting that several products, including several iPods, iPhone SE, iPhone 8 series, and several iPads, including the iPad Pro 10.5-inch, Wi-Fi + Cellular and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation) Wi-Fi, have already been declared vintage by the tech giant.
