One that would please Apple fans is the decision to use the same A18 chipset on all iPhone 16 models. A new leak now works as proof that the entire iPhone 16 lineup is indeed getting the A18 chipset.
A18 chipset on all iPhone 16 models
- The latest information comes from code discovered in Apple’s backend through a leak shared with MacRumors. This code reveals five iPhone models and numbers that indicate the chipset powering each device.
- This is what the code reveals: iPhone17,1, iPhone17,2, iPhone 17,3, iPhone 17,4, and iPhone17,5.
- A similar numbering scheme was used for the iPhone 15 series indicating the chipset used in each model. For example, iPhone 15 was iPhone 15,4 and iPhone 15 Pro Max was iPhone 16,2.
- Since the new iPhone models have the same number, it suggests that all of them will use the same chipset. The fifth iPhone model here is reportedly associated with a different one, possibly the iPhone SE. The iPhone 16 lineup is said to feature four models in total.
The latest leak corroborates previous rumours about the iPhone 16 lineup featuring the same A18 chipset. This is important as the iPhone 15 lineup has different chipsets for the regular and pro models. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature the older A16 Bionic, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have the A16 Bionic.
