iMessage is reportedly getting text effects with the iOS 18 update. While there aren't screenshots to see what the feature might look like, MacRumors says that the text effects will let you animate individual words within a message. iMessage already has quite a few features that let you add effects to messages like confetti and fireworks, so with more options it should make the app more fun to use.
iOS 18 is also revamping the Settings and Control Center, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The Settings menu will get a new UI, which will be reorganised and have a cleaner layout. In iOS 18 and macOS 15, the Settings menu will be more simple to navigate. The Control Center is also getting redesigned in iOS 18. It's not clear whether the redesigns will be major but it should be refreshing to see a change in the UI.
Just last week it was revealed that iOS 18 will give iPhone users the ability to create custom emojis. These emojis will be created based on what the users are texting using AI. This is one of the AI features that's arriving with iOS 18. Apple may be a little late but it is soon joining the AI bandwagon that Google and Samsung have already taken a lead with.
Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new strategy called "Project Greymatter" which is essentially a set of AI tools deeply integrated into core apps like Safari, Photos, and Notes. iOS 18 will also add AI-powered voice memo transcriptions, photo editing tools and faster search results with Spotlight.
