iOS 18 gives more charging limit options to iPhone 15 series: here’s how it works

Highlights
  • iOS 18 will let iPhone 15 users select different charging limits.
  • This feature is currently set to 80 percent but three more options have been added.
  • Apple introduced this feature to increase the battery lifespan.

iOS 18 was officially unveiled at WWDC 2024 as the latest software update for iPhones. It’s releasing for compatible iPhones later this year but the beta versions are out for developers to test. A new iOS 18 feature has been spotted and this one increases the charging limit for all iPhone 15 models. The current setting prevents charging beyond 80 percent to help preserve the iPhone 15’s battery life.

iOS 18 increases iPhone 15 charging limit

iOS 18 increases the charging limit on all iPhone 15 models beyond 80 percent, according to a report by MacRumors. So now you can change it to 85 percent, 90 percent, and 95 percent. This means that your iPhone will stop charging once the battery level reaches the set level. It’s a feature designed to help preserve your iPhone’s battery life.

You can turn this feature on from Settings > Battery > Charging and choose the charging limit from a slider. So you can now turn on this feature and select the charging limit for your iPhone. There’s obviously the option to let your iPhone charge to 100 percent along with the other charging limits.

It’s worth mentioning that the new update is exclusive to the iPhone 15 series. It has been spotted on the iOS 18 beta for the iPhone 15. It isn’t available for older models like the iPhone 14 series so it’s not clear if Apple will expand this feature or not. For now, the charging limit is set at 80 percent for the iPhone 14 series.

There should be more unannounced iOS 18 features that we’ll get to know about as soon as people start testing out the beta version. This is the first developer beta version of iOS 18 with the public beta scheduled to release next month. The stable version of iOS 18 is expected to release later this year just as the new iPhone 16 series makes its debut. The latest iOS update will be available to iPhone XS and above.
