Meta-owned photo and video-sharing platform Instagram has rolled out a new feature that will allow its users to add multiple audio tracks to their Instagram Reels. Initially, it only allowed users to add only a single track. This new feature has been rolled out for several users across the globe. Here’s more about the new feature.

Multiple audio tracks on Instagram Reels

  • Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, has posted on the platform that it will now allow users to add up to 20 audio tracks to their Instagram Reels.
  • As per an official post, when Instagram users add different songs to a reel, it labels the audio mix as belonging to them and also allows others to reuse or share it.
  • Earlier, the platform allowed users to add only one track to their Reels. However, with the new update, users can also sync different audio to the text, stickers, and clips in their Reels.
  • Notably, the new feature will remove the need to use other editing apps to mix multiple songs.

How to add multiple tracks on Instagram Reels

  • In order to use this new feature, users will need to press the “add to mix” button in Instagram’s video editor (if they have received it).
  • The users will then need to select the tracks they want to include, choose specific portions of the tracks, and decide where to place them in the video.
  • Meanwhile, after posting a reel, other users will be able to see all the tracks included and will view a “use audio mix” button for their videos.

Instagram has been working on several new features, and a recent report said that the company will be focusing on short videos rather than long-form videos. Additionally, another report mentioned that the platform is testing a new feature called ‘Ad Breaks’ with a small group of users, which might let users see unskippable ‘ad breaks’. More details about these features are expected to arrive in the coming days.
