Google’s hardware event is set for August 13th and this will witness the launch of Pixel phones, a brand-new foldable, and more. Recent leaks have suggested there will be three Pixel 9 models with some notable design changes over the predecessor. Now, while we wait for the announcement, the vanilla Pixel 9 has leaked in a hands-on video that has surfaced online. Another report says the Pixel 9 series screens will be better than Samsung Galaxy S24.
Pixel 9 hands-on video

- This showed the phone in a pink colour hue and the entire design has been revealed.
- In addition to this colour, the phone will be sold in Obsidian, Porcelain, Jade, and Peony colours, according to a report a couple of months back.
The video shows the complete front and back design of the phone, including the tweaked camera module layout. The Pixel 9 can be seen having a more iPhone/Samsung Series-inspired design language. We see flat edges with a flat display, a boxy chassis which is now more prominent and a glossy back panel.
The camera module instead of running all the way through the edges, now has an oval-shaped design and doesn’t stretch to the corners. The camera module’s protrusion is quite significant. There are dual-camera sensors and the circular rings seem a bit large. Outside of the layout is an LED flash. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right spine. The SIM tray section, speaker vent, and USB Type-C port are placed at the bottom. The X user says the phone will be available in a 256GB storage variant.

Google Pixel 9 series will get better displays than Galaxy S24
Separately, a report from ET News says that Samsung Display will be supplying its new M14 OLED screens for the Pixel 9 series and iPhone 16 Pro models later this year. The report says that all three Pixel 9 models and the Pixel Fold 2 will get the new display tech. M14 would be the latest display material for Samsung’s OLED screen division. For context, the Galaxy S24 lineup used the M13 screens.
The Samsung M14 screens will have the best brightness and lifespan, as per the report. This means the Pixel 9 series could have a brighter, longer-lasting, and more efficient display than the Galaxy S24 series.
