Google rolls out Gemini app in India

Google announced in a blog post that the Gemini app is now accessible in India on the Google Play Store. You can download the Gemini app or sign up using Google Assistant to access the AI chatbot. The app supports ten languages: English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Moreover, Gemini Advanced allows you to upload up to 1,500-page documents or 100 emails and have the AI chatbot summarise them or provide insights about the content. According to Google, Gemini Advanced can now “clean, explore, analyse, and visualise your data” from spreadsheets prepared in Google Sheets, CSVs, or Excel.

According to the company, these files are not used to train AI models and will stay private to the user. While the Gemini app is now available for Android users in India via the Google Play Store, iOS users can only access it through the Google app.

Besides this, Google also announced Gemini’s integration into Google Messages app in India. For those unaware, the feature was already available in other regions and is now making its way to India. However, this feature is currently limited to select devices, with an Android device with 6GB of RAM or more required.

You can get the Gemini app for your Android smartphone from the Play Store or opt-in using Google Assistant. On the other hand, iPhone users will soon be able to use Gemini through the Google app.
