CMF Phone 1 vs Realme P1 performance comparison: which budget phone performs better?

The CMF Phone 1 (review) is the brand’s first foray into the smartphone category. At a starting price of Rs 15,999, the smartphone offers a unique design with customisable rear panels and multiple accessories to choose from. Powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, the CMF Phone 1 is designed to deliver exceptional performance.
The Realme P1 (review) is another affordable performance-centric smartphone in this price range and comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset. Today, we’ll be doing a performance comparison between both smartphones to find out which is the better performer.

Geekbench

The Geekbench benchmark test evaluates the CPU performance of a smartphone. The CMF Phone 1 scored 1015 in the Geekbench single-core test and 2867 in the multi-core test. The Realme P1, in comparison, registered 959 on the single-core test and 2390 on the multi-core test.

From the results the CMF Phone 1 should offer better performance output in both single-core tasks like web browsing, app loading speeds and multi-core tasks like gaming and video editing.

Winner: CMF Phone 1   

AnTuTu

The AnTuTu benchmark test is more comprehensive than the Geekbench benchmark test. It evaluates other metrics, such as GPU performance, user experience, and memory performance, in addition to a smartphone’s CPU performance.

The CMF Phone 1 registered an aggregate score of 6,42,187, while the Realme P1 registered a score of 6,02,920. The CMF Phone 1 offers better GPU performance (1,46,467) compared to the Realme P1 (1,12,486) and should offer better gaming results. 

Winner: CMF Phone 1      

Throttling test

We use the burnout benchmark app to evaluate the performance output of smartphones under throttling. The CMF Phone 1 registered 58.2 percent performance output, under throttling while the Realme P1 showcased an output of 76.7 percent. The latter offers significantly more stable performance and wins the round. 

Winner: Realme P1  

Gaming test

For our gaming test, we played COD: Mobile, BGMI and Real Racing 3 on both phones for 30 minutes each to gauge their performance output. Both phones offer a comparable gameplay experience and manage to deliver over 50FPS average in COD: Mobile and Real Racing Racing 3 at medium graphic settings. In BGMI, the phones offer an average of 35FPS at ‘HDR’ resolution and ‘Ultra’ frame rate settings.

Coming to thermals, the CMF Phone 1 witnessed an average temperature rise of 4.9 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature of Realm P1 increased by 5.2 degrees Celsius. The CMF Phone 1 wins this round with a slight edge. 

Winner: CMF Phone 1

Verdict

From the results above, the CMF Phone 1 is the clear winner in our performance comparison. It outperforms the Realme P1 in synthetic benchmark tests and offers better thermal management while gaming. If you’re looking for a performance-focused smartphone around Rs 15,000, the CMF Phone 1 is the better choice.

The Realme P1, despite its loss, is still a compelling option in its price range. The phone gave stiff competition to CMF Phone 1 in every performance test. Also, the overall cost of ownership for the Realme P1 is less, as it comes with a 45W charger in the box. For CMF Phone 1, you will have to buy the charger separately. So, if you’re on a tight budget, the Realme P1 is a choice worth considering.
