ASUS has announced the launch date for the ROG Phone 8 series, the brand’s next-gen gaming phone lineup. It will most likely feature two phones — ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro but there’s an ‘Ultimate’ variant rumoured as well. The launch date announcement comes shortly after ASUS teased the ROG Phone 8 giving a sneak peek at the phone’s design.
ASUS ROG Phone 8 series launch date
ASUS ROG Phone 8 series is scheduled to launch on January 16th in China. The launch event will start at 7:30 PM China time, which would be 5:00 pm IST for viewers in India. There’s no word on a global launch as yet but we’re expecting the ROG Phone 8 series to arrive in other markets including India shortly after its debut.

The official teaser for the ROG Phone 8 shows a faint image of the phone’s back design. But we do notice a redesigned camera module on the new ROG phone. The new camera module is square-shaped with the bottom right edge slightly cut off.
In comparison to the ROG Phone 7 series, the previous models have a horizontally-aligned camera module that runs through the top of the phone. It also looks like the ROG Phone 8 has a triple camera setup at the back. Other than that we can see a dual-colour design with a mix of light and dark grey shades.
ASUS ROG Phone 8 series specs: what we know so far
- The ROG Phone 8 series is confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This will most likely be the same for all three models with the Ultimate model’s chipset having a higher clock speed.
- The smartphone will most likely come with up to 24GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of onboard storage.
- On the software front, the ROG Phone 8 series could run Android 14 OS out-of-the-box.
- It’s also tipped to come with 65W fast charging support.
