Apple WWDC 2024 announcements (expected)

iOS 18

At the event, the tech giant is likely planning to take on competitors such as Google and Microsoft in the AI space with the release of iOS 18. The upcoming iOS 18 is expected to be a significant software update with several new capabilities and designs focused on AI integration.

As per reports, AI will be included throughout the operating system in many ways. Some expected features include photo retouching, which removes unwanted objects. The update might also suggest replies to emails and messages and auto-generate custom emojis based on the content of a user’s messages.

The other features of the iOS 18 might incorporate a smart recap for messages and missed notifications, enhanced Safari web search, faster Spotlight searches, and auto-generated Apple Music playlists based on user input like mood.

Furthermore, several reports suggest that AI-assisted writing will be available in Pages, AI-assisted slide deck creation in Keynote, and improved Siri capabilities for improved user experience. The iOS 18 will also feature design changes for a more customisable Home Screen, among other enhancements.

In iOS 18, the tech giant might bring RCS for the Messages app for enhanced conversations between iPhone and Android devices. Along with that, features like cross-platform read receipts, real-time typing indicators, and emoji reactions will likely be included in the new operating system.

iPadOS 18

On the other hand, it is anticipated that features added to the iOS18 will also come to the iPadOS 18. If not all, we can expect a number of iOS features mentioned above to arrive on the upcoming iPadOS.

macOS 15

This year’s macOS 15 might also focus on AI features like the iOS 18, and users can expect some impressive AI features that utilise Apple’s Neural Engine. Also, reports suggest that the US-based tech giant might update the Mac’s System Settings app to make it easier for users to find settings.

watchOS

Though not confirmed, the yet-to-be-announced watchOS 11 might include new or enhanced workout types and more watch faces, among others. However, it is also said that this year’s watchOS update might not bring significant features and will likely be relatively minor.

No hardware expected

There are reports that indicate that Apple will not launch any new hardware products at this year’s WWDC. It is worth noting that the tech giant has already unveiled the M3-powered MacBook Air and M4-powered iPad Pro ahead of the WWDC event. Therefore, there is a chance that the tech giant might keep its focus majorly on AI features and software updates.

It is worth noting Apple will officially reveal all the details about the software update or any new enhancement at the upcoming WWDC 2024. Stay tuned for more details of the upcoming event.
