OnePlus Open launched last year as the brand’s first foldable smartphone. It launched in India at Rs 1,39,999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant. With the brand’s entry in the foldable segment, it’s expected to introduce a successor to the Open this year. But a new leak suggests we might not see the OnePlus Open 2 this year.
OnePlus Open 2 launch reportedly delayed
- According to a leak on X, OPPO will not launch the Find N5 foldable smartphone this year. This means that there won’t be a OnePlus Open 2.
- For context, OnePlus Open launched as the global variant of the OPPO Find N3. With no successor to the Find N3, it’s assumed there won’t be an Open 2 either.
- OnePlus phones for global markets including India are usually OPPO phones that are exclusive to China. This strategy was used for the OnePlus Open as well.
- Another tipster added to this rumour saying that the OnePlus Open 2 launch is scheduled for 2025, and the foldable will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. This is Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset slated to launch in October this year.
It looks like the OnePlus Open 2 launch has been delayed to 2025 but with the latest chipset, it might just be worth the wait. OnePlus Open launched with the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from 2023. There isn’t anything else that we know about the OnePlus Open 2 so we can only wait for more information on the foldable.
