However, when giving birth to her daughter she named her Mikayla, after herself, as a symbolic gesture towards giving her child the loving and innocent upbringing she herself was denied. The character of Mikayla Ames is played by the actress Zoe Carter who shares the same surname in real life that her character's mother had.
