TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Shannon Presby's final film role. Shortly after completing the film, he decided to give up acting.

This movie is known for an early villainous role by James Spader, but the same year he played the good guy, and ironically was one of the new kids, in Tuff Turf (1985).

James Spader and Eric Stoltz also appeared together in the TV movie A Killer in the Family (1983).

Three actors from the film later appeared with actor Keanu Reeves in different films: Lori Loughlin in The Night Before (1988), John Philbin in Point Break (1991) and James Spader in The Watcher (2000).

A scene towards the film's climax where one of the protagonists is trapped in a room of mirrors as she is being stalked by one of the film's antagonists, plays as an almost homage to a very similar scene from Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon. A film score is heard playing over the scene that has a similar theme to the one played in the scene in Enter The Dragon, as that film and The New Kids are scored by Argentinian composer Lalo Schifrin.

"Gideon: There's this movie playing out at the drive in. I've seen it about five times. It's called "Saturday Night Girls.""
