TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Julian Assange emailed Benedict Cumberbatch to ask him to not to participate in the film.

The character "Ziggy" is based on the WikiLeaks volunteer Sigurdur Thordarson that later turned out to be an FBI informant.

On September 18 2013, Wikileaks released a mature version of the complete script to the public, because "the film is, from WikiLeaks' perspective, irresponsible, counterproductive and harmful." They also published a "Talking Points" memo "because it represents a frank internal appraisal of [the film] and what is wrong with it."

The film's title sequence, which depicts the history of news communication, took over a year to create.

James McAvoy was cast as Daniel Domscheit-Berg but he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts his stage play, Macbeth. Daniel Brühl replaced him.

Popular Dialogues

"Julian Assange: If you want the truth, no one is going to tell you the truth, they're going to tell you their version. So if you want the truth, you have to seek it out for yourself. In fact that's where power lies, in your willingness to look beyond this story, any story. And as long as you keep searching, you are dangerous to them. That's what they're afraid of: you. It's all about you. And a little bit about me too."

"Julian Assange: You can't go far in this world by relying on people. People are loyal until it seems opportune not to be."
