Both Jeffrey Combs (who plays Poe) and Christopher Heyerdahl (who plays his rival Griswold) have starred as the horror writer H.P.Lovecraft: Combs in Necronomicon: Book of Dead (1993) and Heyerdahl in Out of Mind: The Stories of H.P. Lovecraft (1998).
