Kristian Lavercombe's first Rocky Horror Show experience was at New Zealand's Nelson Musical Theatre in 1998, playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter, and he later took over the role of Riff Raff for tours in Asia and Australia. At the time of this taping, Lavercombe had portrayed Riff Raff in over 900 performances, and by the end of the UK tour in 2017, he will have played the character more times than any other actor in history.
David Bedella previously portrayed Dr. Frank-N-Furter in several different stage productions. His performance was so well-received in the 2006 UK tour that he was asked to reprise the role for another run in 2009.
The one-time live theatrical broadcast played in more than 600 theaters across Europe. It raised over £600,000 for Amnesty International and took the top spot at the UK box office, beating out Legend (2015) and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015).
Narrator Anthony Head played the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in stage productions in 1991 and 1996, which was chronicled in The Rocky Horror Tribute Show (2006). He donned the fishnets an additional time for Rocky Horror 25: Anniversary Special (2000).
This production marked Richard O'Brien's first stage appearance in more than a decade.
"Stephen Fry: I would like, if I may... Audience: You may! Stephen Fry: ...to take you... Man in audience: Take me! Stephen Fry: Perhaps later... on a strange journey. Audience: How strange? Stephen Fry: You'd be surprised."
"Stephen Fry: It's true that there were dark storm clouds... Audience: Describe your balls! Stephen Fry: ...heavy, black and pendulous... Curses upon you!... towards which they were driving. It's true also that the spare tire they were carrying was badly in need of... Man in audience: A blowjob! Stephen Fry: Yes, please."
